PATONGA BEACH, NEW SOUTH WALES
The outcome
The client’s vision was to modernise their beach house that was originally built in the 1920’s and make it a bespoke holiday home.
The goal was to retain the heritage of the building but give it a contemporary and luxurious feel. The design had to create a feel of sophistication whilst also feeling relaxed.
To achieve a contemporary look, new furniture, paint work decor and texture was introduced. Oversized artwork, a cohesive colour palette, modern lighting and black accents were added through out.
The end result is a beautiful home full of modern style and old-world charm, perfect for the small coastal location of Patonga Beach.
"My husband and I purchased a gorgeous property about 18 months ago for the purpose of being a holiday home / Airbnb. I decorated myself as best I could to get it up and running. Each time we went there, I looked around and it just didn't have the vibe or the edge I wanted and I really envied the interior of other Air BnB's we stayed in. I wanted to give it an uplift but didn't know where to start and don't "really" have that skill, even though I am artistic. I looked at hiring an interior designer for a while, but just like the display home villages, I found that they all just looked the same. I wanted a house styled by an interior designer, that didn't 'look' like an interior designer had styled the house (weird, I know). Anyway, I stumbled across Michelle's profile and I finally saw something I liked. I spoke to Michelle and she got me. I explained to her what I wanted and what I didn't want. When we met on-site for the initial consultation, I knew I'd found the one, and I didn't look back.
Michelle is a very talented lady, and I am absolutely thrilled with what she's done. She gives her guidance and expertise, but still afforded us a bit of our own creative input. She is professional and totally down to earth all in one package. Nothing was too much trouble. She even did a two-hour return trip with me to pick up a coffee table that didn't arrive and lights we decided to add on the spur of the moment.
I would recommend Michelle without hesitation to anyone that wants to create a special space and doesn't have the skill or knowledge to do it on their own. You won't get a cookie cutter design or a "gone fishing" sign in your beach house! I look forward to working with Michelle again in the near future when I build my own home. Thank you Michelle, you are wonderful!"
